1. About These Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Empower Life Academy website and your purchase of or participation in any ELA products, services, workshops, or courses.

Please read these Terms carefully before using our website or making a purchase. By accessing our website or purchasing from us, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our website or purchase our products and services.

References to "ELA", "we", "us", or "our" in these Terms refer to Empower Life Academy Limited. References to "you" or "your" refer to the person using our website or purchasing our products and services.

3. Our Products and Services

Empower Life Academy offers the following products and services:

Free workshops

The Return to You workshop is a free 90-minute online event. Attendance is subject to the Workshop Terms in Section 8 of these Terms.

Physical products

The Becoming Unstoppable journal sets, available in standard and Black Women's editions, in hardcover and softcover formats.

Online courses and programmes

Paid courses including Keys to Connection and other programmes as made available. These are delivered digitally and subject to the Digital Products terms in Section 7.

Community membership

Access to the ELA community, currently hosted via a private Facebook group. Membership is subject to the Community Terms in Section 10.

4. Eligibility

Our website and services are intended for adults aged 18 and over. By using our website or purchasing our products and services, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age.

Our services are available to residents of the United Kingdom and internationally, except where we are unable to deliver to your location. We will inform you at checkout if we cannot fulfil your order.

5. Ordering and Payment

Placing an order

When you place an order on our website, you are making an offer to purchase the product or service at the stated price. We will send you an order confirmation by email. Your order is accepted and a contract formed when we send you a dispatch confirmation for physical products, or access details for digital products and courses.

We reserve the right to decline any order, for example if a product is out of stock or if there is an error in pricing or product information. If we decline your order, we will notify you and provide a full refund of any payment taken.

Pricing

All prices are displayed in pounds sterling (£) and are inclusive of any applicable VAT where required. Delivery charges for physical products are displayed separately at checkout.

We take reasonable care to ensure pricing on our website is accurate. If we discover an error in the price of a product you have ordered, we will contact you and give you the choice to proceed at the correct price or cancel your order for a full refund.

Payment

Payment is processed securely by Shopify. We accept the payment methods displayed at checkout. We do not store your full payment card details. By providing your payment information, you confirm you are authorised to use the payment method.

6. Physical Products — Journals

Delivery

We aim to dispatch physical orders within 3 to 5 working days. Delivery times vary depending on your location and the delivery method selected at checkout. We will provide tracking information where available.

We are not responsible for delays caused by postal or courier services, customs processes for international orders, or events outside our reasonable control.

Your right to cancel — physical products

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel your order for physical products within 14 days of receiving them, without giving a reason. This is your statutory right.

To exercise your right to cancel, contact us at nicole@empowerlifeacademy.com within 14 days of receiving your order. You will need to return the product to us in its original, unused, and undamaged condition at your own cost. We will issue a full refund of the product price within 14 days of receiving the return.

We cannot accept returns of products that have been used or are not in their original condition.

Damaged or faulty products

If your product arrives damaged or faulty, please contact us at nicole@empowerlifeacademy.com with your order number and a description of the issue within 30 days of receipt. We will offer a replacement or full refund at no cost to you. This does not affect your statutory rights.

7. Digital Products and Online Courses

Access

On purchasing an online course or digital product, you will receive access details by email. Access is granted to you personally and is non-transferable. You may not share your login details or allow others to access the content on your behalf.

Your right to cancel — digital products and courses

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you have a 14-day right to cancel digital products and online courses from the date of purchase.

However, if you request immediate access to digital content or begin accessing course materials within the 14-day cancellation period, and you confirm in writing (including by ticking a checkbox at checkout) that you understand you are waiving your right to cancel once access begins, your right to cancel is lost from that point.

If you have not accessed the content, you may cancel within 14 days of purchase for a full refund by contacting nicole@empowerlifeacademy.com.

Availability and changes

We make every effort to ensure our courses and digital products are available as described. We reserve the right to update or modify course content to maintain accuracy and quality. We will not make changes that materially reduce the value of what you have purchased without notifying you.

If a course or digital product is discontinued after your purchase, we will provide reasonable notice and offer a refund for any unused portion where applicable.

8. Free Workshops

Registration and attendance

The Return to You workshop is free to attend. Registration secures your place and allows us to send you joining details. We may limit the number of places available.

Cancellation by you

If you are no longer able to attend, please let us know at nicole@empowerlifeacademy.com so we can offer your place to someone else. There is no penalty for cancelling a free workshop.

Cancellation or rescheduling by us

We reserve the right to cancel or reschedule workshops where necessary, including due to low numbers, technical issues, or events outside our control. Where we cancel a workshop, we will notify registered attendees and offer an alternative date or the opportunity to deregister.

Recording

We may record workshops for the purpose of creating content or making sessions available to registered attendees who were unable to attend live. We will inform you before the session if it is being recorded. By attending a recorded session you consent to your participation being included in the recording, except where you have requested otherwise by contacting us in advance.

Attendees may not record workshops themselves without our prior written permission.

Conduct during workshops

We ask all workshop participants to engage with respect and care for others in the space. We reserve the right to remove any participant who behaves in a way that is disruptive, disrespectful, or harmful to others, without notice.

9. Refund Policy

Our refund policy is as follows, without affecting your statutory rights as a consumer:

• Physical products: Refund or replacement for damaged or faulty items. 14-day right to return unused products in original condition.
• Digital products and courses: Full refund if cancelled within 14 days of purchase and content has not been accessed. No refund once content has been accessed, except where the product is faulty or significantly not as described.
• Free workshops: No payment taken, no refund applicable.

To request a refund, contact us at nicole@empowerlifeacademy.com with your order number and the reason for your request. We will respond within 5 working days.

We do not offer refunds based on personal preference, change of mind after accessing digital content, or failure to engage with the materials provided. This does not affect your statutory rights.

10. Community Terms

Access to the ELA community (currently a private Facebook group) is provided as part of your membership or course enrolment. The following rules apply to all community members:

What we expect from community members

1. Treat all members with respect, kindness, and dignity at all times.
2. Keep confidential anything personal that other members share within the community space. What is shared in the village stays in the village.
3. Do not promote your own products, services, or social channels without prior permission from ELA.
4. Do not share, reproduce, or distribute ELA content, course materials, or workshop recordings outside of the community.
5. Do not engage in any behaviour that is discriminatory, abusive, threatening, or harmful.

Moderation and removal

We reserve the right to remove any member from the community at our sole discretion if their behaviour violates these Terms or is inconsistent with the values of the ELA village. In serious cases, removal may be without notice. We will refund any unused paid portion of a membership if removal is not related to a conduct issue.

11. Intellectual Property

ELA's intellectual property

All content on the ELA website and within ELA products and services — including but not limited to course materials, workshop content, journal content, written copy, images, videos, the Protection Paradox framework, and all associated concepts and terminology — is the intellectual property of Empower Life Academy Limited or its licensors.

The Protection Paradox, including its governing principle and the four inner dynamic names (Inner Child, Inner Critic, Avoider, Inner Adult), is proprietary intellectual property of Empower Life Academy Limited.

What you may do

You may access and use ELA content for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may share links to our website and publicly available content.

What you may not do

• Reproduce, distribute, or sell any ELA course materials, workshop content, or written materials without our written permission
• Use the Protection Paradox framework or associated terminology commercially without our written permission
• Present ELA's content or frameworks as your own
• Record workshops or sessions without prior written permission
• Create derivative works from ELA content without our written permission

If you would like to use ELA content for any purpose beyond personal use, please contact us at nicole@empowerlifeacademy.com to discuss licensing.

12. Important Disclaimer — Not Therapy or Medical Advice

Empower Life Academy offers personal development, emotional wellbeing education, and community support. Our content, workshops, courses, and community are not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, psychiatric, or therapeutic treatment.

Nothing on our website or within any ELA product or service constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are experiencing a mental health crisis or require clinical support, please contact a qualified healthcare professional.

While we take great care in the quality of our content and the safety of our spaces, individual experiences and outcomes vary. We do not guarantee specific results from participation in any ELA workshop, course, or community.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, Empower Life Academy Limited shall not be liable for:

• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of our website, products, or services
• Any loss of data, revenue, or opportunity
• Any loss arising from events outside our reasonable control

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under UK law.

Our total liability to you in connection with any purchase shall not exceed the amount you paid for the relevant product or service.

Your statutory rights as a UK consumer are not affected by these Terms.

14. Events Outside Our Control

We will not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations under these Terms that is caused by events outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, power outages, internet failures, or industrial disputes.

If such an event affects our ability to fulfil your order, we will contact you as soon as possible and take reasonable steps to minimise the impact. If we are unable to fulfil your order, we will offer a full refund.

15. Privacy

Your use of our website and services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in accordance with UK GDPR.

16. Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to third-party websites. These links are provided for your convenience only. We have no control over the content of those websites and accept no responsibility for them or for any loss or damage that may arise from your use of them.

The inclusion of a link to a third-party website does not constitute our endorsement of that website or its content.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, business practices, or legal obligations. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by posting a notice on our website and, where appropriate, by email.

The date at the top of this page shows when the Terms were last updated. Your continued use of our website or services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using our website and services. Any purchases made before the updated Terms came into effect will be governed by the Terms in place at the time of purchase.

18. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of our website and services will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer based in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your home country.

19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, void, or unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed severable and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.

20. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any other policies referenced herein, constitute the entire agreement between you and Empower Life Academy Limited in relation to your use of our website and services.

These Terms supersede all previous agreements and understandings between us, whether written or oral.
